Call the clinic today if
- The dog keeps an eye closed, squints or avoids light.
- The cornea looks cloudy, bluish or has a visible spot.
- There is heavy tearing, mucus, pus, blood or sudden redness.
- The dog rubs the face with a paw or against objects.
What not to do
Do not use human eye drops or leftover medicine from a previous problem. Some products are dangerous with a corneal ulcer. Do not try to reposition cherry eye yourself and prevent further rubbing.
What to tell the veterinarian
- When it started and whether there was grass exposure, play or injury.
- Any drops or products already used.
- A photo of both eyes in the same light.
