The vaccination alone is not enough
For a first rabies vaccination, EU countries normally treat it as valid after 21 days. The animal must be identified by microchip before vaccination or on the same day. A different rule can apply to a booster given while the previous vaccination was still valid.
Check the whole route
- The rules of the origin country, every transit country and the destination.
- The microchip number matches across every document.
- Whether an antibody test, health certificate or additional treatment is required.
- The carrier’s separate rules for brachycephalic dogs.
Puppy transfer can follow different rules
Travelling with your own pet and transferring a puppy to a new owner do not always fall under the same legal category. Do not book using a generic tourist pet checklist alone. Yuliia will agree the date, document pack and travel method after the exact route has been checked.
